Todays group: The campaign to get all Facebook servers run on renewable energy!

6,154 members and counting

Group description:

In order to maintain the Facebook Universe all the data and networks have to be stored and managed by servers which require electricity to run and to be cooled.

CURRENT ESTIMATE: 56.5 million kWh
ASSOCIATED CO2 EMISSIONS: 28,600 tonnes

This means that your virtual self here on Facebook has a very real carbon footprint.

This is a campaign to get the people in charge of Facebook to source all their power needs from renewable energy sources in order to eliminate these associated carbon emissions.

We want this message to be at the top of every statistic report they read. Let's use Facebook's abilities for its own good and make this one of the fastest growing groups!

PLEASE INVITE ALL YOUR FRIENDS AND GET THEM TO DO THE SAME.

By joining this group you will send a clear message to those in charge that we want them to act responsibly, allowing us all to continue to network in ease.

My thoughts: My first blog where I give my thoughts due to Anonymous saying it would be good if I did....so I do think that Facebook should try to run its servers on renewable energy, can you imagine the greenhouse gasses and emmitions that could be saved from polluting our already dying planet. Of course not just Facebook should do it, Google, Ebay, MySpace and YouTube should consider the option too.

It would be nice if you gave your opinion of these sites, rather than just copying the description...

I have thought about doing that Anonymous but I feel that my opinion is not really what I'd want to read if I was reading my blog. I'd like to see what facebook group they had found, and I honestly wouldnt care what they thought about it. But if you think people would be interested in my personal opinon than I will begin to post my thoughts on each group.

thanks for reading
